Due to increasing population pressure and declining soil fertility, there is need for profi table alternatives to the slash-and-burn (SB) practice for cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) production in the humid lowlands of sub-Saharan Africa. Integrated Soil Fertility Management (ISFM) has high potential to deliver such options. Two on-farm, researcher-managed trials were installed to compare slash-and-burn with slashing and incorporation of the natural vegetation, and the application of green manure and/or NPK fertilizer at diff erent rates. Root yields were comparable when the natural vegetation was slashed and incorporated, or slashed and burned. Fertilizer application increased yields by 42 to 212%, and had residual eff ects on a second cassava crop, increasing yields by 40 to 74%. Addition of green manure increased yields by 36 to 158%, without residual eff ects. Comparison with yields obtained in treatments where both inputs were applied in combination showed that yield increases due to fertilizer and green manure application were additive. Most profi table yield increases were obtained when fertilizer was applied in combination with Tithonia in the more fertile site, and in combination with Chromolaena or incorporation of the natural vegetation in the less fertile site. Net benefi ts were increased by 30 to 50% with a benefi t cost ratio of $5 to $7 $ -1 and a marginal rate of return of $4 to $5 $ -1 relative to slash-andburn. While current conditions favor combining fertilizer with green manure, an increase in labor cost or a decrease in fertilizer price would result in superior marginal rates of return for combining fertilizer with the natural fallow vegetation.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación del dolor neuropático y la calidad de vida de pacientes sometidas a mastectomía en el Hospital Alberto Sabogal Sologuren en el periodo Enero – junio 2021 Material y método: El estudio descriptivo, correlacional y transversal. La población estuvo conformada por 55, la técnica que se realizo fue la encuesta y la entrevista y el instrumento que se uso fue una encuesta, el cuestionario DN4 para la calidad de vida, todo fue usado previo consentimiento informado. El análisis de los resultados se realizó por el programa SPSS Resultados: Con una población total de 55 se obtuvo que un 65% de las pacientes tiene dolor moderado, que la mama mas afectada es la mama derecha con un 88%, que el cáncer más común con un 80% es el carcinoma ductal infiltrante, que las edades en donde encontramos más porcentaje es en los rangos de 41-50 años con un porcentaje de 50%, los estadios de la enfermedad se encuentran en IIB un 50%,que la parte donde más dolor sienten es el miembro del lado mastectomizado con un 52%, en el cuestionario de dolor neuropático, se obtuvo los resultados como que la molestia que mas consideran es el quemazón un 80% que sienten hormigueo un 80% que sientes hipoestesias al tacto 80%. Se concluyo que mas de un 87.3% de las pacientes tienen una calidad de vida regular. Conclusiones: Se tuvo como conclusión que no existe una relación entre el dolor neuropático y la calidad de vida de las pacientes sometidas a mastectomía. Que la calidad de vida es regular en estas pacientes.
