Radar reflectivity and wind fields analysis by using two X‐band Doppler radars at Okinawa, Japan from 11 to 12 June 2007

Abstract: During 11 June (CASE I) and 12 June (CASE II) 2007, several meso-β-scale convective systems (MβCSs) were generated along the Meiyu-Baiu front. In this study, the formation, evolution and dissipation of convective precipitation, kinematics structures, and features of the MβCSs developed over ocean were investigate using dual Doppler analysis. The analysis of synoptic conditions and atmospheric sounding suggested that in both cases the atmospheric environment was characterized by well-developed convective system… Show more

“…MCSs are generally divided into meso-a scale, meso-b scale and meso-g scale systems, corresponding to length scales of 200Á2000, 20Á200 and 2Á20 km, respectively (Orlanski, 1975). In Korea, meso-b scale line-shaped systems are frequently observed and there have been many observational and model studies of their development mechanism (Sun and Lee, 2002;Shin and Lee 2005;Kim and Lee, 2006;You et al, 2010;Ha et al, 2011;Jeong et al, 2012Jeong et al, , 2013Jang et al, 2013). Such systems are also commonly observed and studied in neighbouring countries (e.g.…”
