Radiofrequency Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation in Patients with Ebstein's Anomaly: A Two-Case Report

Abstract: Ebstein's anomaly (EA) is a rare congenital heart disease characterized by “atrialization” of the right ventricle, due to apical displacement of the tricuspid leaflets into the right ventricle. Patients with EA may develop all kinds of supraventricular arrhythmias requiring radiofrequency ablation. Atrial fibrillation (Afib) is a common arrhythmia in EA patients, and results in debilitating symptoms that often require surgical treatment. This is a follow-up report of 2 patients with EA undergoing radiofrequenc… Show more

“…The occurrence of AT correlated with derangement of the right heart parameters in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) [ 22 ]. Atrial fibrillation is an increasing issue as patients survive for a longer age, and there are reports of pulmonary vein isolation with reasonable medium term results [ 23 ]. However, in patients undergoing surgical repair for EA and who have AF, a MAZE procedure during the surgery is the preferred strategy [ 24 ].…”
