AbstrakKanker serviks merupakan gangguan yang terjadi pada sel somatik, ketika perubahan materi genetik menyebabkan sel normal berperilaku abnormal. Pada kanker serviks stadium III dilakukan pengobatan standar yaitu kemoradiasi. Respons klinis kemoradiasi dipengaruhi beberapa faktor salah satunya yaitu indeks massa tubuh (IMT). Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui hubungan indeks massa tubuh dengan respons klinis kemoradiasi pasien kanker serviks stadium III. Desain penelitian yaitu observasi dengan pendekatan cohort retrospective menggunakan data rekam medis pasien kanker serviks di RSUD dr. Saiful Anwar Malang. Data rekam medis yang digunakan sebanyak 27 pasien. Analisis data dengan uji korelasi Spearman's rho, didapatkan hubungan yang signifikan antara indeks massa tubuh terhadap respons klinis kemoradiasi dengan nilai P = 0,001 (0.001 < α=0.05). Uji hubungan keeratan dengan correlation coefficient didapatkan hasil -0,594, yang berarti bahwa ada hubungan yang kuat namun berkebalikan antara IMT dengan respons klinis.Kata kunci: IMT, kanker serviks, kemoradiasi.

BackgroundEmerging evidence suggests that ataxia telangiectasia-mutated (ATM) is involved in numerous damage repair signaling pathways and cell-cycle checkpoints. Heterozygous carriers of ATM-mutations have an increased risk for the development of breast cancer. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the association between ATM exon39 5557G > A (D1853N, rs1801516) polymorphism and breast cancer susceptibility with the use of a meta-analysis.MethodsBy searching PubMed and Embase databases, a total of 9 epidemiological studies with 4,191 cases and 3,780 controls were identified. Crude odds ratios (ORs) and their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for ATM D1853N polymorphism and breast cancer risk were calculated using fixed- or random-effects model based on the degree of heterogeneity among studies.ResultsNo significant association between the ATM D1853N polymorphism and breast cancer risk was observed in overall analysis (GA versus GG: OR = 1.18; 95% CI, 0.90-1.53; AA versus GG: OR = 0.77; 95% CI, 0.58-1.03; dominant model: OR = 1.16; 95% CI, 0.89-1.51; and recessive model: OR = 0.78; 95% CI, 0.59-1.04, respectively).ConclusionOur results indicate that ATM D1853N polymorphism is not a risk factor for developing breast cancer.

Background. Hemophagocytic syndrome (HPS) is characterized by a hyperinflammatory reaction followed by alteration in cytotoxic function of Th1 lymphocytes and natural killer cells. We report a rare case of a patient that presented with fever and pancytopenia due to HPS associated with Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL). Case Report. A 69-year-old Caucasian woman was admitted presenting with complaints of fever, seizures, and low back pain that had lasted for two weeks. Laboratorial data showed pancytopenia. Bone marrow biopsy revealed infiltration by Reed-Sternberg cells and hemophagocytosis signs. Imaging studies showed mediastinal lymph nodes (stage IV B). She had been treated with ABVD (doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine) followed by a good response. Conclusion. HPS associated with HL is a very rare and lethal disease, with mortality rates of about 15% to 60%. The prompt diagnosis of the underlying lymphoma may be an important strategy for optimizing the clinical approach and outcome.

Abstract: RCTh gives better treatment results in patients without than in patients with anemia and higher overall survival rates than RTh in patients without anemia. The only clinical prognostic factor for advance cervical carcinoma is the clinical stage of the disease.
