Raman and Luminescent Spectra of Sulfonated Zn Phthalocyanine Enhanced by Gold Nanoparticles

Abstract: Sulfonated Zn phthalocyanine, as a prospective photosensitizer in the photodynamic therapy of tumors, is investigated by means of Raman, infrared, and fluorescence spectroscopies. Conventional and surface-enhanced spectra from this photosensitizer are obtained and compared. Gold nano-islands attached to silica cores (Au-SiO2) are proposed as nanostructures providing plasmonically enhanced signals. Pronounced enhancement of Raman and infrared spectral bands from sulfonated Zn phthalocyanine allows their more co… Show more

“…These results suggested the successful synthesis of Zr-Pc. 27 The XPS spectrum of Zr-Pc is displayed in Figure S1C. There were Zr 3d (179.6 eV), C 1s (282.6 eV), N 1s (397.0 eV), and O 1s (528.2 eV) peaks in the curve of Zr-Pc.…”

“…SERS analysis was conducted on the Au–OT surface to characterize and identify the OT surface anchoring and ion binding (Figure ). A peak at 285 cm –1 was assigned to S–Au bond. , This peak is significantly higher for Au–OT surfaces compared to bare Au SERS surface washed with AAB (Figure , black curve). The presence of the characteristic gold–sulfur bond energy by SERS and the absence of the disulfide bond-related energy at 420–520 cm –1 (observed by attenuated total reflection (ATR)-FTIR of OT; see Figure S1) confirm chemisorption to gold by oxidative addition.…”
