Ranking of performance indicators in an Internet of Things (IoT)-based traceability system for the agriculture supply chain (ASC)

Abstract: PurposeThe prime aim of this paper is the identification and prioritization of performance indicators, which motivate the development of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based traceability system for the agriculture supply chain (ASC). Also, this research aims for checking the robustness of obtained results.Design/methodology/approachTen performance indicators have been identified based on the five “criteria in the IoT-based traceable system”. Further, based on five criteria, performance indicators were ranked by u… Show more

“…Qian et al (2014) have used a model with three main factor layers to evaluate the traceability granularity of agricultural IOT traceability systems; the layers are traceability accuracy, traceability width and traceability depth. Yadav et al (2021) have established performance metrics for IOT agricultural supply-chain traceability systems and analyzed the importance of these metrics.…”

“…However, this alone is not enough to guarantee comprehensive, authentic traceability-system information in the circulation link (Li et al ., 2021). If relevant stakeholders are unable to share information and resources, it is impossible to determine where quality problems have occurred; in addition, there can be socioeconomic problems, such as stagnant agricultural products, general oversupply or oversupply when an pandemic breaks out in a certain region (Yadav et al ., 2021; Zheng et al ., 2021). The following evaluation indices have therefore been chosen for the distribution link of the agricultural-product IOT traceability system: warehouse location and storage capacity; development and transportation technology and equipment introduction rate; supply-chain product-tracking capability; and the degree of collaboration among relevant stakeholders.…”

“…The disruptive process has revealed the need for greater visibility throughout the SC (Ozdemir et al ., 2022). New technologies and policies can be followed to ensure transparency in SC processes (Kiers et al ., 2022; Yadav et al ., 2022b). Ensuring information transparency can improve the performance of SCs, especially in chaotic processes such as COVID-19 and make them more resilient to shocks (Zhang et al.…”
