Rapid assessment of oil and moisture content in seeds of oil flax using IR spectrometry

Abstract: We used near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) to assess biochemical parameters in whole oil flax seeds, regardless of differences in seed coat color of the samples. At the first stage of work, the set the task to develop calibration models for the MATRIX-I IR analyzer to determine the oil and moisture content in flax seeds. The carried out the research in the laboratory of biochemistry on brown and yellow seed samples of oil flax, grown in 2015-2020 in various agro-ecological conditions of the Russian … Show more

“…The RPD indicator (Residual Prediction Deviation -the value of the residual prediction deviation for the rank) of the developed calibration model evaluates the stability of the obtained dependence. According to the assessment adopted for the OPUS program, the magnitude of this value in the range from 6.0 to 7.9 qualifies as a "very good dependence" [19][20][21][22]. The developed Oat_Protein calibration model for the determination of protein in oat flour has an RPD value of 6.21.…”

“…For hybridization, we used two high oleic lines BH 1844 (82.2 %) and BH 1848 (83.0 %) and two high-yielding lines from the varieties Sarmat and Selegor with traditional oleic acid content of 62.1 and 60.5 %, respectively. Seeds of F 1 hybrids that were obtained in the year of crossing were evaluated for oleic acid content using infrared spectrometry on a MATRIX-I Bruker Optics instrument in the standard configuration [10].…”
