Rapid Formation of Left Atrial Appendage Thrombus After Unsuccessful Cardioversion of Atrial Fibrillation

Abstract: The acute effect of failed attempts of cardioversion on left atrial (LA) and left atrial appendage (LAA) functions are generally considered benign and no adverse effects have been reported. We report on a subject who had rapid formation of a fresh, mobile thrombus in the LAA despite unsuccessful cardioversion and therapeutic anticoagulation.
