Rapid screening of oil-rim reservoirs for development and management

Abstract: As an improvement over existing screening techniques, we introduce the relative mobile energy of primary gas-cap to the aquifer (E gw) as a new parameter for characterizing the performance of oil-rim reservoirs. E gw integrates key static and dynamic reservoir properties. To account for the time value of production, the framework allows maximizing the discounted recovery factor (DRF) of oil, gas or total hydrocarbon as the objective function. Employing detailed simulations of different well-defined oil-rim mod… Show more

“…In addition to these theoretical approaches, empirical research methodologies include the utilization of the oil-rim discriminant method for reservoir-type determination. , Phase behavior experiments conducted under reservoir conditions reveal critical opalescence phenomena, indicative of near-critical condensate gas reservoir characteristics. Observations of fluid stratification phenomena further reinforce the identification of near-critical behavior. , The investigation into fluid properties delineates significant distinctions between the studied reservoir and conventional condensate gas reservoirs in the Junggar Basin, while also highlighting similarities with typical near-critical condensate gas reservoirs in China. , …”
