Rapid, Sensitive and Selective Analysis of trans-Resveratrol in Rat Plasma by LC–MS–MS

Abstract: A rapid, sensitive and highly selective liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS-MS) using an atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) method was developed to determine the concentration of trans-resveratrol in rat plasma. Samples were extracted using ethyl acetate after daidzein was added as an internal standard (IS). The main advantages of this method were the high sensitivity (a lower limit of quantification, LLOQ, of 0.1 ng mL -1 ) and the short analysis time (total run time 3.2 min per… Show more

“…However, curcumin is often adulterated with other highly toxic dyes such as methanyl yellow [ 8 ] and lead chromate (II) [ 9 ]. Therefore, various detection and quantification methods are employed, such as HPLC [ 10 , 11 ], UV-visible spectrophotometry [ 12 , 13 ], fluorescence [ 14 , 15 ], electrochemistry [ 16 ], etc. The most widely used method is UV-visible spectrophotometry due to its simplicity, high efficiency, and good reliability.…”

“…Standard method performance requirements and validation protocols have also been set by the Association of Official Agricultural Chemists for the determination of TRV in dietary supplements and dietary ingredients [27]. Some liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) assays were also utilized for TRV analysis in plant materials, wine samples and plasma samples [28][29][30][31]. Different high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) techniques have also been utilized for TRV analysis in a variety of samples such as wine samples, plant extracts, pharmaceutical products, herbal products and polyherbal products [3,4,[32][33][34][35].…”
