“…If cystadenoma was an MEST, it would be necessary, by definition, the coexistence of a proliferation of both the glandular and stromal compartments. However, stroma overgrowth may be not necessary for the diagnosis of cystadenoma, 1,68,13,17,22 In some papers, 1,13,15,16,27 the description of the stroma is absent. To overcome this evidence, Reikie et al 6 suggested that the term ‘cystadenoma’ should therefore be restricted only to those rare benign tumours that demonstrate hypocellular (normal or almost normal) seminal vesicle stroma and they can be considered part of the spectrum of the low-grade MEST, rather than a separate category.…”

“…After surgical removal, on gross examination, these neoplasms appear variably cystic and solid or multicystic and sponge-like. Microscopically, these tumours show variable dilated cysts, lined by a cuboidal to columnar cells, 19 from single-layered 10 to double-layered 8 or flattened 1 epithelium containing (not in all of the cysts) a homogeneous eosinophilic material. Some authors described a basal cell layer, 9,11 some only recognised it focally, 6 others did not find it at all.…”

“…The histological findings demonstrated that the tumors were composed of glands and cysts that were lined predominantly by cuboidal and columnar epithelium surrounded by fibrous stroma. [ 16 ] Reikie et al [ 17 ] proposed that the term seminal vesicle “mixed epithelial-stromal tumor” should be used to designate tumors of the seminal vesicle containing epithelial and stromal components. According to their criterion, cystadenoma of the seminal vesicle can be considered a low-grade mixed epithelial-stromal tumor.…”
