Rasch Analysis of the Korean Parenting Stress Index Short Form (K-PSI-SF) in Mothers of Children with Cerebral Palsy

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate the psychometric characteristics of the Korean Parenting Stress Index Short Form (K-PSI-SF) for mothers of children with cerebral palsy (CP) by using a Rasch analysis. The participants were 114 mothers of children with CP whose ages ranged from 2.79 to 11.90 years. The K-PSI-SF consists of 36 items, with a 5-point Likert scale grading along three subscales (Parent Distress, Parent–Child Dysfunctional Interaction, and Difficult Child). The response data were analyzed… Show more

“…The OUTFIT indicator is sensitive to unexpected observations of variables whose difficulty is very different from the country's capacity. The INFIT indicator is sensitive to unexpected observations of the variables whose difficulty is close to that of the country's capacity [135,156,157]. Tables 3 and 4 show that the MNSQ statistics (INFIT and OUTFIT) reached a value of 1 or very close to 1, both for the variables and for the countries, which shows fit or validity.…”

“…Within the RM, the presence of unidimensionality is a fundamental requirement [48,154,155]. If other dimensions exist, as many isolated analyses as existing dimensions should be carried out [149,156,157]. In the context of RM, the verification of unidimensionality is carried out by analyzing the principal components of the residuals (PICAR) of the variables.…”

“…In the standardization study, the internal consistency coefficient was 0.56-0.95, and the test-retest reliability was 0.50-0.90 [34]. Item analysis was performed in the previous study on parents of children with CP [35]. In the present study, Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.910 and ranged from 0.891 to 0.926.…”

“…They address the suggestions of some authors regarding the statistical significance of the data from the WEF model [39,45] The existence of unidimensionality is a fundamental requirement of RM [80,86,107,117]. This is because the presence of several dimensions could lead to the existence of disturbances in the relationships between pillars or the presence of pillars that represent other dimensions [106,118,119].…”
