Raspberry Pi controlled Traffic Density monitoring system

Abstract: Raspberry Pi controlled Traffic Density monitoring system. Raspberry Pi is a single board computer which can be effectively used for multi-functionalities. Here is the one of the ways of using this for multiple purposes. It is used for traffic surveillance purpose where the traffic is continuously monitored and viewed through live streaming. In addition to this, it is used for detecting the traffic density and gives the traffic report to the travelers. Here we are monitoring the traffic ,based upon the density… Show more

“…Undeniably, embedded systems provide cost efficient solutions to computation at nodes while also being structurally small and providing most of the functionalities that a modern computer can provide whilst also accommodating the said equipment. Sk Riyaz Hussain, et al [4] in their paper have considered the idea of monitoring traffic density through Raspberry Pi. They have measured the density of traffic by differentiation between white and black pixels.…”

“…However, these solutions are constrained by the computational limitations of single board computers (SBC) such as the Raspberry Pi (RPi). Thus, they are only able to provide vehicle count [14]- [16], vehicle count, and average speed [17], or vehicle count and type [18]- [21].…”

“…Methods employing images [ 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 ] have likewise been proposed, as we can see from the fact that image processing is used in various fields [ 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 ]. These methods have gained superiority, as they do not affect the monitoring targets or the surrounding environment and allow for systems to be built at a comparatively lower cost.…”
