Rat Liver Peroxisomes after Fibrate Treatment

Abstract: Fibrates are known to induce peroxisome proliferation and the expression of peroxisomal ␤-oxidation enzymes. To analyze fibrate-induced changes of complex metabolic networks, we have compared the proteome of rat liver peroxisomes from control and bezafibrate-treated rats. Highly purified peroxisomes were subfractionated, and the proteins of the matrix, peripheral, and integral membrane subfractions thus obtained were analyzed by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-offlight/time-of-flight mass spec… Show more

“…[4,27,31]. Moreover, a location on the inner mitochondrial membrane [32] as well as peroxisomal location [33] of the Mo is reported as well. However, NHC reductase activity in humans is strictly dependent on cytochrome b 5 reductase CYB5R3 and mitochondrial cytochrome b 5 CYTB5 [14,15].…”

“…The presence of Lon protease in peroxisomes has been also confirmed by quantitative mass spectrometry (Islinger et al 2007). Although the mitochondrial Lon protease mediates the degradation of misfolded, unassembled or oxidatively damaged polypeptides (Suzuki et al 1994;van Dyck et al 1994;Wagner et al 1997;van Dijl et al 1998;Bota and Davies 2002), little is known about the physiological function of PSLP.…”
