Rates of Radiative and Convective Heat Transfer in a Cabin Fire

Abstract: As a contribution to the recent debate [1-5] on the "cabins" con cept, formal analysis of heat transfer in a cabin fire is performed. It is shown that under conditions approaching those required for flashover only about a third of the heat transfer is convective, the remainder being radiative.
