“…There is no evidence for a nuclear target suppression of inelastic J/ψ photo-and leptoproduction. On the contrary, there is an indication [42] of a slight nuclear enhancement at x F ≃ 0.7 (α = 1.05 ± 0.03), in stark contrast to the strong nuclear suppression seen at this x F in hadroproduction [29]. Due to the absence of comoving gluons and the validity of the CSM we expect α ≃ 1.…”

“…We want to demonstrate here 3 that as a function of x nuclear effects can be rather big (with effective cross section of order of 20 ÷ 30 mb) but integrally they cancelled because of cancelling contributions from screening and anti-screening regions. This is demonstrated at Fig.2 where we show description of the NMC data [16] on ratio R(Sn/Be) of J/ψ electroproduction cross sections as a function of x ≡ x F . Since in this case the J/ψ spectrum is concentrated at x close to 1, the anti-screening regime takes place already at x 0.8.…”

“…To pin down the nuclear gluon shadowing at small values of x, high precision data on the Q 2 dependence of F A 2 /F D 2 , F A 2 /F C 2 would be needed especially at x > ∼ 0.01, where the gluons start to determine the evolution of the sea quarks more strongly [14,10]. In the future, perhaps also the gluon initiated processes like open charm and J/Ψ production in DIS [34] and in pA collisions [35,36] could help in constraining the gluon antishadowing peak further.…”
