Abstract:Background and Objectives: Nearly three-quarters of the patients with COVID-19 received antibiotic therapy despite the bacterial coinfection being only less than 10% in many studies and ranging from 8-22% in ICU patients. The use of broad-spectrum antibiotics in COVID-19 patients has not been proven effective. Overuse of antibiotics may be associated with side effects and antibiotic resistance.
