Abstract:Raymond Westerling – a war criminal and the key figure in the attempt of the coup in 1950 and bloody massacres in Sumatra and Sulawesi. In 1950 he attempted to carry out a coup and usurp the power in Indonesia. Until now the violent actions of Westerling are being studied by Indonesian and Dutch scholars. The article is based not only on the current researches but also on the memoirs of Westerling himself.
