Reactions of Nucleogenic Bromine Atoms with Bromobenzenes

Recoil bromine /Bromobenzenes /Selectivity effects AbstractReactions of recoil """Br with substituted bromobenzenes are investigated. The total organic yields in mono-and dibromobenzenes are significantly higher than in bromotoluenes. The parent yields in m-dibromobenzene are lower than in the ortho isomer suggesting lower absolute rate for Br-for-Br exchange in the former in contrast to the behaviour with bromotoluenes where the parent yields are comparable. Relative reactivities of recoil bromine based on the model of KONTIS and URCH are evaluated and the reactivity parameters in the mixtures of the investigated Compounds and the corresponding chlorocompounds are compared and the chemical processes involved are discussed.
