Reactions of Two Cp*W(NO) Complexes with Heterocyclic Olefins

Abstract: Cp*W(NO)(CH 2 CMe 3 ) 2 (1) and Cp*W(NO)(CH 2 SiMe 3 )(η 2 -CPhCH 2 ) (2), two complexes which initiate the catalytic ring-retaining oligomerization of cyclic olefin substrates from cyclopentene to cyclooctene, have been reacted with analogous heteroatom-containing cyclic olefins under thermolytic conditions. These reactions with 2,5-dihydrofuran, 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran, and 1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine do not result in the formation of oligomeric organic products but, rather, afford organometallic complexes resul… Show more

“…Spectroscopic analysis suggested that the cyclopentene product adopted the same cis orientation as found for the molybdenum analogue, whereas the six‐ and eight‐membered‐ring products appeared to adopt the trans orientation , . A subsequent study found that the anticipated metallacyclobutane 32 could be prepared by using 2,5‐dihydrofuran . A structural study revealed that the expected cis orientation was adopted, as had been the case for cyclopentene.…”

“…80 A number of intriguing nitrosyl complexes have been reported. [81][82][83][84][85] A new and improved synthetic route to WSF 4 was developed from the reaction of WF 6 and Sb 2 S 3 in anhydrous HF. 8 Tungsten sulfide tetrafluoride was characterised by Raman and 19 F NMR spectroscopy for the first time in HF solvent.…”

“…90 Cp*W(NO)(CH 2 CMe 3 ) 2 and Cp*W(NO)(CH 2 SiMe 3 )(Z 2 -CPhCH 2 ), two complexes which initiate the catalytic ring-retaining oligomerization of cyclic olefin substrates from cyclopentene to cyclooctene, have been reacted with analogous heteroatomcontaining cyclic olefins under thermolytic conditions. 83 These reactions with 2,5-dihydrofuran, 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran, and 1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine do not result Scheme 1 in the formation of oligomeric organic products rather, afford organometallic complexes resulting from alternate modes of substrate reactivity, such as ringopening C-O bond cleavage and N-H activation. 83 Colloidal MoS 2 nanoparticles with diameters of less than 10 nm were prepared with a simple solvothermal method and demonstrated high efficiency in catalyzing H 2 evolution in Ru(bpy) 3 2+ -based molecular systems under visible light.…”
