Recently, the database for the breakup of a deuteron in collision with a proton has been significantly enriched in the domain of medium energies. High precision experimental data for the cross section, vector (proton)-analyzing power and vector-and tensor (deuteron)-analyzing powers were collected with detection systems covering a large part of the phase space of the 1 H( d, pp)n and 2 H( p, pp)n reactions. A series of experiments were carried out with deuteron beams with energies of 100, 130 and 160 MeV and proton beams with energies of 135 and 190 MeV, each of them providing a few hundred data points per observable, obtained on systematic grids of kinematical variables within the studied angular ranges. Usage of the multidetector systems with significant solid angle coverage provides not only very rich data sets but also a good opportunity for controlling the consistency of the results.

The final analysis of the experiment determining both components of the transverse polarization of electrons (σT 1 , σT 2 ) emitted in the β-decay of polarized, free neutrons is presented. The T-odd, P-odd correlation coefficient quantifying σT 2 , perpendicular to the neutron polarization and electron momentum, was found to be R = 0.004±0.012±0.005. This value is consistent with time reversal invariance, and significantly improves both earlier result and limits on the relative strength of imaginary scalar couplings in the weak interaction. The value obtained for the correlation coefficient associated with σT 1 , N = 0.067±0.011±0.004, agrees with the Standard Model expectation, providing an important sensitivity test of the experimental setup. The present result sets constraints on the imaginary part of scalar and tensor couplings in weak interaction. Implications for parameters of the leptoquark exchange model and minimal supersymmetric model (MSSM) with R-parity violation are discussed.

Abstract. High-quality vector analyzing power data for the 1 H(d,pp)n breakup reaction and elastic scattering at 100 MeV beam energy have been measured in a large part of the phase space for these processes. The results are compared to theoretical predictions obtained using the charge-dependent Bonn potential alone or combined with the three-nucleon force TM99 as well as to the results of calculations in the coupled-channel approach, with or without the inclusion of the Coulomb interaction. In the studied observables, effects of the 3NF and the Coulomb force are almost absent. The pairwise NN interactions alone are sufficient to describe the experimental results.
