“…While social media provides an array of open access knowledge, the knowledge gained should be treated with caution as there is a high degree of responders who might not be verifying the information before clinical application. 15 Since the development and uploading of health-related content in SMPs are not restricted to professionals alone but can be carried out by anyone without proper background, thus valid and false information can be openly available for all, including the general public. 16 The other aspect of SMPs is that medical and dental content in internet-based applications is gaining influence in opinion formation by members of the general public, who are generally unfamiliar with such scholarly databases that provide peer-reviewed evidence-based research contents.…”
