Real-Time Electromagnetic Estimation for Reluctance Actuators

Abstract: Several modeling, estimation, and control strategies have been recently presented for simple reluctance devices like solenoid valves and electromagnetic switches. In this paper, we present a new algorithm to online estimate the flux linkage and the electrical timevariant parameters of these devices, namely the resistance and the inductance, only by making use of discrete-time measurements of voltage and current. The algorithm, which is robust against measurement noise, is able to deal with temperature variatio… Show more

“…Specifically, we propose to replace φ with the flux linkage λ = N φ, and H c with the auxiliary variable M * c = M c l c /N. Then, the dynamic equation of λ is derived from ( 16) or (17), depending on the input choice,…”

“…The electromagnetic variables are λ and M * c . While M * c is a hidden variable, λ can be assumed known because it can be directly estimated from the electrical signals, as explained in [5] and [17].…”

“…At the same time, the oscilloscope measures, registers, and sends the values of voltage, v, and current, i, back to the computer. Finally, the data are processed and the magnetic flux, φ, is estimated as described in [39]. Three different sets of experiments have been performed, each having a specific purpose and based on a particular type of waveform which is repeated at several levels of excitation.…”

“…This approach is the most common nowadays in the market and typically uses an electromechanic relay network to configure the inverter output according to the user requirement. While being a costeffective solution, this approach has severe limitations due to the use of relays such as the noise [13], [14] or limited switching times, and usually requires of complex IH load identification systems [15]- [17] to ensure proper converter operation.…”
