Real-time high-rise building monitoring system using global navigation satellite system technology

Abstract: The continuous assessment of the displacement of a high-rise building enables veri cation that meets the structural assumptions calculated in the project, which provide an additional useful feedback for structural engineers. Unexpected structural responses during the phases of construction or once the building is in use can help detect current and future problems as well as providing cost savings. It also contributes to an improved risk management for natural phenomena; it can be used to verify the stability o… Show more

“…The second category of displacement measurement methods refers to global position systems (GPS) [12][13][14][15][16][17], vision systems [18][19][20][21], radar systems [22][23][24], and laser systems [25,26]. These systems can provide accurate displacement in a noncontact manner.…”

“…However, although previous studies accepted the accuracy of GNSS-PPP for estimating the dynamic components of motions, there is a lack of studies on the effect of multipath errors and observation noises on the results, as most of the PPP method testing was conducted in open sky areas [6,9,10]. The GNSS multipath errors and noises for static and dynamic movements are presented and discussed in [11][12][13], where the geometry of satellites and reflective surfaces are the main parameters affecting the multipath [14,15].…”

“…Accurate and timely management of on-site information in high-rise building construction is a crucial element for the success of a project [1]. In high-rise construction, a large amount of real-time information is available because various tasks are performed simultaneously [2]. If on-site information for timely management is missing or delayed in transfer, subsequent processes may in turn be delayed or rework may be required [3].…”
