Real‐time low cost compact liquid‐water binary mixture monitoring sensor

Abstract: This work proposes a novel method for detecting the concentration of water present in liquid‐water binary mixture in real time with a low cost, portable measurement setup. The sensing element in the proposed system is a two‐port microstrip bandstop resonator based on coupled line open‐ended quarter wavelength section. Voltage control oscillator and power detector ICs are used to generate and detect the microwave power at specific bandstop frequency. Water concentrations in commercially available liquids are mo… Show more

“…In addition, most of the designs only contribute to the sensitivity and selectivity enhancement, unfortunately leaving a long way to go before the real applications in daily life due to the expensive measurement system and harsh practical requirements. Researchers have recently proposed the integration of cheap and portable circuitry to overcome the drawback of the expensive detection system. , However, the microwave sensors with desired sensing parameters such as high sensitivity, good selectivity, minimum limit of detection (LOD), and high resolution are still urgently required. Therefore, the employment of good sensing materials with improved microwave designs would be helpful in designing a satisfactory gas sensor.…”
