Real-Time Simulator of DTC–FOC-Based DFIG During Voltage Dip and LVRT

Abstract: This paper proposes the decoupling control of direct torque control (DTC) and field orient control (FOC) for doubly fed induction generator (DFIG)-based wind energy system (WES). The proposed technique reduces the transient of system during low voltage ride through (LVRT) as well as voltage dip (VD) with out auxiliary circuit. The combined DTC-FOC regulates both rotor and grid side converters (RGSCs). In particular, DTC controls the generator speed, torque and rotor flux; similarly, FOC regulates the capacitor… Show more

“…The corrector must first, control the mechanical speed to its reference speed, and secondly, generate an electromagnetic torque considered as being the image of the reference current of the DC motor. DC motor current control provides the control signals, which are generated by the dSPACE DS1104 interface device directing the semiconductor switches of the arms constituting the DC/DC converter which feeds the DC motor [18][19][20][21][22]. In this case, an optimal torque is generated and applied to the mechanical shaft [18,19].…”

“…Most studies use AC/AC converter only in the rotor side to control the generated powers, making the electronic power converters and power loss less than those of conventional full-size stator converters. The DFIG is able to operate under different modes (sub, super and synchronous modes), it offers also: decoupling control of active and reactive powers, operating in wide range of speed and ability to deliver a large amount of energy [2][3].…”

“…Owing to the diminution of fuel fossil reserves and increased concern about CO2 emissions, which can cause a critical climate change, the wind energy systems (WESs) have become attractive and developed rapidly over the last few decades as a clean renewable energy source (Barra et al, 2016 ; Kumar, 2016 ; Soued et al, 2017 ). Despite the impacts of Covid-19, the most exclusively published statistics energy has appeared that the total additions of wind energy capacity in 2020 are expected to reach 65 GW, which increased by 8% compared with 2019 (Jaladi et al, 2020 ; Sadorsky, 2021 ; Slimane et al, 2020 ).…”
