In this paper, a method is proposed for quickly calculating cylindrical computer-generated holograms (CCGHs) from planar computer-generated holograms (CGHs) created with another method. The proposed method takes over the object light calculated by a conventional method and calculates the propagation to the CCGH’s surface quickly by the Fourier transform. This method can be used in combination with conventional methods that compute planar CGHs. It does not require any changes to the implementation of the conventional methods or impose any limitations on the shape or representation of objects. By using this method, CCGHs can be created from various planar CGHs easily and quickly.
