Realization of Negative Permeability in Vertical Double Split-Ring Resonators with Normal Incidence

Abstract: With the rapid development of optoelectronics, methods for manipulating light−matter interactions are urgently required. In this work, three-dimensional double split-ring resonators (3D-DSRRs) have been designed via a metal-stress-driven self-folding method. The 3D-DSRRs eliminate the electric response from the meta-atoms and exhibit a magnetic dipole moment radiation power that is 1244.6-fold greater than that of twodimensional metamaterials. By tailoring of the 3D-DSRR periodicity, the permeability is shown … Show more

“…To furtherly magnify the modulation extent of the focusing intensity ratio in the double-foci metalens, the meta-atom B is optimized to be empowered with giant anisotropy so as to enhance the cross-polarized transmittance difference between LCP and RCP illumination. It should be noted that the circular polarized transmittance components can be converted from the linearly polarized transmittance via Equation (1). In other words, the crosspolarized transmission difference can be expressed as…”

“…Metamaterials, consisting of an artificially engineered arrangement of sub-wavelength units, have received a burgeoning amount of interest in the field of electromagnetic (EM) manipulation owing to their extensive design freedom in the frequency, amplitude, phase, and polarization. Recent advances of EM metamaterials have revealed blossom diversities of exotic physical phenomena such as negative permeability, [1] chiral bound state of continuum, [2] anapole resonance, [3] etc. Meanwhile, the lightweight and miniaturized metadevices have been successfully developed to achieve practical applications in the wavefront manipulation, [4][5][6] polarization converter, [7][8][9] biologic sensing, [10,11] diffractive neural network [12][13][14] and so on.…”
