The Software-Defined Network (SDN) with Network Slicing will be a good approach for admission control in the Fifth Generation (5G) wireless network, which is planned to be adaptable to meet user requirements. The system’s resources are limited, and the number of devices is growing much faster than it can handle. So, the overloading problem will be a very critical problem. To deal with these problems, this paper presents a Fuzzy-based Scheme for Service Level Agreement (SLA) evaluation (FSSLA). We compare two models: FSSLA1 and FSSLA2. The FSSLA1 considers three input parameters: Reliability (Re), Availability (Av), Latency (La) and the output parameter is SLA. In FSSLA2, we consider Traffic Load (Tl) as a new parameter. From simulation results, we conclude that the considered parameters have different effects on the SLA. When Re and Av are increasing, the SLA parameter is increased but when La and Tl are increasing, the SLA parameter is decreased. When the Tl value is changed from 20% to 80%, the SLA is decreased by 16.62% when Re 10%, Av 90% and the La value is 1 ms. When the Re is increased from 10% to 90% and 50% to 90% and the Tl value is 50%, the Av is 50% and the La is 1 ms, the SLA is increased by 22.76% and 11.38%, respectively.

Fifth Generation (5G) wireless network plays major attention in the communication scenario due to the advanced features in data transmission. 5G is designed to overcome the issues, such as data rate, reliability, throughput, latency and capacity in the wireless network domains. The 5G wireless services aim to increase the data rate through massive communication services. In this survey, well known research papers based on low latency communication at the Physical layer (PHY) and Medium Access Control layer (MAC) are reviewed based on the Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC) perspective. Here, the communication techniques are categorized as, structure-based model, resource reuse-based techniques, radio resource management techniques, scheduling based approach, diversity-based techniques and network slicing model based on the purpose of data communication. The issues and challenges faced by the existing research works are reviewed and discussed in the research gaps and issues section. Moreover, the analysis carried out in this survey is based on the evaluation parameters, network layer, network parameters, system, purpose and simulation toolsets. The future work of the URLLC research is based on the issues collected from the recent research papers reviewed in this study.

E‐Replacement: Efficient scanner data collection method in P4‐based software‐defined networks

Internet of things (IoT) botnets such as Mirai are rampant in the past years. Port scanning is a well-known behavior of botnets for searching targets in networks. To detect port scanning, a detector requires network statistics with high discriminatory power. In P4-based software-defined network (SDN), switches take charge of recording characteristics about scanning behaviors, and controllers pull the statistics from the switches periodically for anomaly detection. Given storage resources in switches are limited, we proposed a scanner data collection method, 0-Replacement, in P4-based SDN to efficiently collect scanner data and improve the detection rate. 0-Replacement, however, does not consider performance degradation caused by the hash collision. In this paper, we combine the conception of Hashpipe with 0-Replacement and propose a new scanner data collection method named E-Replacement. By leveraging the conception of Hashpipe, E-Replacement can mitigate the performance degradation caused by the hash collision. Through simulations, weshow that E-Replacement improves the detection rate by up to 6.73% and 210.82% compared to 0-Replacement and the traditional sample and hold method, respectively. Besides, E-Replacement improves the precision by around 528.2% compared to the count-min sketch and k-ary sketch methods. The memory usage in E-Replacement is the same as 0-Replacement. In simulations, E-Replacement can detect around 93.4% of scanners in a class B network with only 4.02-Mb SRAM. After implementing E-Replacement on a software P4 switch, BMv2, we observe the extra forwarding latency for E-Replacement is not greater than a millisecond.
