Recent Advancements in Autonomous Robots and Their Technical Analysis

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to discuss and present a technical analysis of the recent advancements in autonomous robots equipped with a manipulator. The autonomous robots include unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV), and unmanned ground vehicle (UGV). A manipulator can make an autonomous robot more adaptable and robust but it can also affect its performance as well. Several issues can arise because of the installation of a manipulator like the robot becoming unstable due to the ext… Show more

“…The mobile robotic arm has the moving function of the mobile platform and the flexible operation function of the robotic arm. At present, the mobile robotic arm is widely used in the fields of life services, industrial manufacturing, and space exploration, and its research has important theoretical value and broad application prospects [1]. The motion planning of mobile robotic arms is usually achieved by demonstration in traditional industrial applications.…”

“…UAVs can be classified into three main types based on their profile and propulsion method as fixed-wing, single-rotor, multi-rotor, and hybrid fixed-wing Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) [1]. Although originally, they were primarily employed for 'dull, dirty, or dangerous' [2] missions, due to their increasing networking capabilities, 'intelligence' and payload diversity, their benefits have been realized for broader applications in the civil domain such as photography, construction, logistics, remote surveillance, precision agriculture etc.…”
