Recent advances in solar drying technologies: A Comprehensive review

Abstract: Preservation of food and vegetable products is an age-old practice for the retention of flavor, appearance, and quality. From ancient times, driers for drying food grains work on direct sun rays, firewood, fossil fuels, and coals causing carbon release. These available methods are expensive, unreliable, and unhygienic; thereby the use of a solar dryer working on free and clean energy is better for higher value addition to food preservation. The objective of this exploration is to study the recent developments … Show more

“…According to a first investigation into the test results, similarly, the test results are relatively stable in the ST of 8.0 mm, and the TS has a small effect on the SD's result accuracy. In the range Eissa et al, 2024 of 4 -6 mm, the test results vary greatly, and the ST has a greater impact on the SD's result accuracy at all levels of AV.…”

“…Solar dryers are generally classified according to different modes of heat transfer, the form of solar heat utilization, and temperature range. The solar dryer is categorized as a passive, active, or hybrid solar dryer by Behera et al (2022). Jha and Tripathy (2021) have studied different types of hybrid solar dryers according to climatic conditions.…”
