Recent developments in acoustical imaging applied to vibrating structures

Abstract

METRAVIB R.D.S., the French leader in the field of dynamics in mechanics (vibrations-materials-acoustics) is one of the pioneers of the development and application of acoustical imaging techniques in France (intensitymetry-holography-backpropagation). Associated today with the main French and European industrial groups, METRAVIB R.D.S. has validated its methods in various real industrial applications. This paper presents an overview of these applications either on fixed or moving sources, focusing on theoretical foundations of the selected resolution methods, and knowledge acquired through these techniques. Moreover, this paper deals with the most recent applications to related fields such as structural intensitymetry techniques, and experimental investigation of periodic stiffened structures. The conclusions are devoted to developments in progress, concerning phenomena studies of fluid-structures coupling by means of radiation or scattering fields exploration.
