“…103 Similarly, calcium oxide (CaO) is an excellent support because it is low-cost 104,105 and has a high adsorption property toward CO 2 (∼786 g of CO 2 per kg of CaO (ref. 106 and 107)). The CaO support would make the catalyst size larger, but the conversion remains stable because CaO could eliminate the deposited carbon.…”

“…The basic principle of CLC is to decompose the traditional combustion method of direct contact between fuel and air into two gas–solid reactions with the help of oxygen carriers (OCs). The fuel and air need not be in contact, and the oxygen in the air will be transferred to the fuel by OCs. Chemical looping of oxygen uncoupling (CLOU) is a variant of chemical looping that accelerates fuel conversion through the release of gaseous O 2 from OC itself, resulting in a higher fuel conversion rate. , As an important part of the CLOU, the performance of OCs affects the entire process. OCs should have the following characteristics: strong oxygen absorption, release ability, high activity, high mechanical strength, etc. Copper-based OCs have attracted much attention because of the high reactivity and high oxygen loading rate. …”

“…Traditional combustion was performed in the air atmosphere; it is not conducive to the separation of CO 2 ; normal catalytic combustion also has the same problem, while the combustion temperature in pure oxygen is higher; the equipment is easy to be damaged. However, chemical looping combustion (CLC) can realize the full transformation at mild conditions for CCUS. , A large quantity of CLC catalysts have been investigated, including various supports, active metals, and so forth, and the catalysis performance depends on the selection of the oxygen carrier to a great degree . An excellent oxygen carrier with favorable structure stability and higher oxygen-carrying capacity is extremely desired due to the multiple extended redox cycles.…”
