Recent status and results of the Dark Matter Particle Explorer

Abstract: The DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) is a satellite-borne, calorimetric type, high-energyresolution space cosmic ray and gamma-ray detector. It was launched in December 2015 and has been stably operating for more than five years. Its three major scientific objectives are dark matter indirect detection, cosmic ray physics and gamma-ray astronomy. Precise measurements of the all-electron, proton and Helium spectra in wide energy ranges have been obtained, shedding new light on the research of cosmic ray phy… Show more

“…This plastic scintillator based instrument was launched as part of the Tiangong-2 spacelab in 2016 and took data for approximately half a year. During this period a total of 55 GRBs were detected as well as several pulsars (see [10] for details on the pulsar analysis).…”

“…To limit dead time and reduce the daily data size, the threshold for such events is set higher at 7 photo-electrons, whereas for polarization events this is set at to around 4 photo-electrons. Although such single bar events cannot be used for polarization studies they can be used for spectral measurements, GRB localization and pulsar studies such as those described in [10]. The effective area for all triggers, meaning both single bar and polarization events is shown on the right in figure 4.…”
