Abstract:The haloarchaeal genera Halomicroarcula and Haloarcula, belonging to the family Haloarculaceae, order Halobacteriales, class Halobacteria, within the phylum Methanobacteriota, have previously exhibited significant phylogenetic and taxonomic overlaps. This issue was recently resolved by merging the two genera into a single genus, Haloarcula.
