Abstract:Studying influenza A viruses (IAVs) requires secondary experimental procedures to detect the presence of the virus in infected cells or animals. The ability to generate recombinant (r)IAV using reverse genetics techniques has allowed investigators to generate viruses expressing foreign genes, including fluorescent and luciferase proteins. These rIAVs expressing reporter genes have allowed for easily tracking viral infections in cultured cells and animal models of infection without the need for secondary approa… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
