“…6 In the literature, many series reported successful reconstruction of through-and-through cheek-buccal defects with the use of free ALT flaps. [6][7][8][9] In particular, the advantages of ALT flaps in this kind of reconstruction were derived from its flap design versatility, such as one perforator with skin paddle folding, two-perforator chimeric flaps, or intervening de-epithelialization zone, to meet the requirements of both the oral lining and cheek skin, or even oral commissure. [6][7][8]10 However, fewer issues regarding postoperative long-term satisfaction, impact on QOL, or comparison with other fasciocutaneous flaps were discussed.…”

“…The expanded forehead flap is also used for large cheek defect reconstruction but this flap frequently introduces hair-bearing scalp into nonhair-bearing areas, and multiple laser hair removal are needed. 4 Several free flaps were also choices for facial and neck reconstruction, like anterolateral thigh flap, 5 radial forearm flap. 6 But free flap reconstruction requires microsurgical technique.…”

“…Restoration of speech and swallowing with acceptable esthetic outcome are the primary goals of reconstruction. The anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap is a versatile and by far the most commonly used reconstructive option for such defects [3]. It not only provides adequate skin and soft tissue cover but also has an advantage of minimal donor site morbidity [4].…”
