Reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament with quadriceps tendon

Abstract: The author describes the technique he uses to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) arthroscopically with autologous bone-quadriceps tendon (BQT) graft. The patellar bone is fixed in a femoral tunnel about 2.5 cm long, in a position that allows the tendinous extremity of the graft to appear on the extra-articular exit of the tibial tunnel. The tibial tunnel is filled, making the integration of the tendon in the bone easier. The tendinous extremity of the graft is pulled by nonabsorbable wires, remai… Show more

“…Our results agree essentially with those of other authors [9,15,17,19,21,24], who regard this transplant as an alternative to the BPTB transplants. Furthermore a direct, comparative investigation in the clinical outcome after using BPTB-, BQT-and semitendinosus/gracilis tendon graft for reconstruction of the ACL is outstanding.…”

“…The QT has been successfully used for revision surgery for ACL reconstruction and dual-band reconstruction of the ACL 30 , 31 , 32 . Antonogiannakis et al (33) studied the QT in ACL reconstructive surgery without the patellar bone block, with good results.…”

“…O TQ tem sido usado com sucesso para revisão de cirurgia de reconstrução do LCA e na reconstrução do LCA por banda dupla (30)(31)(32) . Antonogiannakis et al (33) mostraram estudo com o TQ em cirurgia para reconstrução do LCA sem o bloco ósseo da patela, com bons resultados.…”
