Abstract: Galectin-1 (Gal-1) is an evolutionarily conserved sugar-binding protein found in intra- and extracellular spaces. Extracellularly, it binds to glycoconjugates with β-galactoside(s) and functions in various biological phenomena, including immunity, cancer, and differentiation.
