Abstract:Hardware resources found in modern processor architecture, such as the memory hierarchy, can improve the performance of a task by anticipating its needs based on its execution history and behaviour. Interleaved jobs, belonging to other tasks with different behaviours, can cause stress on those resources by disrupting the execution history thus slowing down more sensitive tasks. Schedulability analyses and policies tend to ignore such behaviours, in favour of conservative assumptions, as their effects are diffi… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
