Redundancy in Decision-Making Systems

Abstract: Decision-making systems consisting of n independent decision devices and designed to include a simple voting redundancy scheme are discussed. It is shown how to determine the threshold level or minimum number of votes that must be received so as to minimize the probability of the system making an incorrect decision. Applications of such systems can be found in the areas of target detection and fault isolation of electronic equipment.
