Refinement of the Questionnaire 'Quality of Care from the Patient's Perspective' using Structural Equation Modelling

Abstract: In 1994, the questionnaire 'Quality of Care from the Patient's Perspective' (QPP) was developed using a conventional factor analytical approach (Wilde et al. 1994). The items and conceptual framework of this questionnaire were derived from a theoretical model, which, in turn, was developed from qualitative patient interviews, using a grounded theory method of analysis (Wilde et al. 1993). The aims of this study were to develop further the dimensionality of the QPP using structural equation modelling combined w… Show more

“…The provisional QPP questionnaire was validated and shortened using factor analysis and structural equation modeling [4]. The internal consistency of the scales ranges from 0.65 (physical-technical conditions) to 0.91 (identity-oriented approach) [6].…”

“…9,10 The questionnaire consists of 37 items to capture an overall satisfaction score and four dimensions on a 4-point scale. Medical-technical competence refers to perceptions of physical care (e.g., the physical help needed) and medical care (e.g., I received the best possible medical treatment to the best of my knowledge).…”

“…The QPP questionnaire is based on a theoretical model of the quality of care from a patient's perspective [29][30][31][32][33]. The model, which was developed using a grounded theory approach, stipulates that the patients' perceptions of what constitutes the quality of care are formed by their systems of norms, expectations, and experiences.…”
