Reflectance confocal microscopy: A new emerging technique for diagnosing and predicting outcome of mycosis fungoides

Abstract: Plaque-stage Mycosis Fungoides (MF) can be challenging to diagnose. Patients frequently undergo multiple sequential biopsies to establish a diagnosis. Previous studies have demonstrated the value of reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) as a part of the diagnostic algorithm for MF 1,2 and predict prognosis by identifying large cell transformation within these lesions. 3 Herein, we present a case of plaque-stage MF, describe its typical appearance on RCM, and review corresponding histologic findings.
