“…In this case, this feature may indicate either a low effect of the spatial domain in the spectral response of the high quality stands or simply that the image resolution or the window dimensions were not able to capture local variations in the texture. In fact, previous studies used finer image resolutions to discriminate forest stand structure Kayitakire et al, 2006;Wunderle et al, 2007), whereas in other cases medium resolution imagery such as Landsat TM/ETM+ or SPOT4 was sufficient for discrimination of forest stand characteristics (Cohen and Goward, 2004;Hansen et al, 2001) depending on crown dimensions and density. Therefore, it may be advisable in future research to test texture features from finer resolution images, as some potential texture predictors may have been rejected by the model due to a lack of quality/resolution rather than a lack of causal association (Zerger et al, 2009).…”
