Regeneration of Aluminum Matrix Composite Reinforced by SiCp and GCsf Using Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Technology

Abstract: The main motivation behind the presented research was the regeneration of the damaged surface of composite materials. The testing of melting and pad welding of the composite surface by Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) with alternating current (AC) were carried out. The material of investigation was an AlSi12/SiCp + GCsf hybrid composite made by a centrifugal casting process. The composite was reinforced with 5 wt.% of silicon carbide particles and 5 wt.% of glassy carbon spheres. The composites were investigate… Show more

“…Aluminium Matrix Composites (AMCs) reinforced with Silicon Carbide particles (SiCp) have garnered considerable attention due to their remarkable blend of lightweight properties and enhanced mechanical characteristics [3,6]. These composites offer an excellent choice for components requiring weight reduction and robust mechanical properties, thanks to their combination of low density, high speci c strength, and impressive thermal stability [7]. However, the primary challenge in adopting AMCs within the aviation sector lies in the thermal-related issues associated with traditional welding processes for such materials.…”
