“…The coastline consist of minor cuspates along the seaward margin of the beach and beach cusp features, which are produced by superposition of the processes operating in the intertidal zone with different scale of motions (Dolan et al, 1974). The developed features are governed by the reactivation of the E-W regional fault in the Gulf of Kachchh and reflect the regional trend of the shelf edge (Chauhan et al 1993). Other factors that are responsible for the development of the crescent coastal landforms are the waves, which are normal to the straight coast and make an impact against the curved coast.…”

“…The Okha Rann which separates Okhamandal peninsula from the rest of Saurashtra is a manifestation of neotectonism in this part (Merh, 1995). A prominent feature observed offshore Dwarka is the occurrence of Saurashtra arch in NE-SW direction with a plunging nature (Chauhan et al 1993). Major fault zones trending WNW-ESE off the Porbandar coast define the Saurashtra platform and separate it from the deeper zone.…”

“…The Kachchh coastline shows features related to tectonic upliftment (Biswas, 1974(Biswas, , 1982(Biswas, , 1987Kar, 1993;Chauhan et al, 1993) such as raised beaches and dewatered subtidal mud within intertidal zone (Patel and Desai, 1999;Patel, 2008 andPatel, et al 2001). The coast line displays a complex of spits and cuspate along with tidal flats, tidal channels and coastal dunes complexes.…”
