La recherche sur l’innovation dans les PME s’est beaucoup intéressée à la place et au rôle des réseaux. Dans ces travaux, tout se passe comme si toutes les relations étaient possibles et également probables. Or, rien n’est plus inexact : toutes les relations n’ont pas la même probabilité d’exister et les réseaux sont eux aussi structurés et hiérarchisés. En analyse de réseaux, cette observation classique renvoie au principe d’homophilie ; principe selon lequel, dans les réseaux, les personnes ou les organisations qui sont en relation sont semblables parce qu’elles ont tendance à partager un ensemble de caractéristiques sociales et organisationnelles. À partir d’une étude exploratoire centrée sur des entretiens réalisés dans des entreprises oeuvrant dans l’industrie des technologies propres, nous verrons comment le principe d’homophilie s’avère nécessaire à la compréhension, d’une part, de l’existence même des relations observées dans les activités d’innovation des PME et, d’autre part, de leur capacité à donner accès aux ressources, dont ont besoin ces dernières dans leurs projets.Innovation studies in SMEs has been interested for long time by the place and role of networks. In these studies, everything happens as if all the relations were possible and also likely. Yet, nothing is more inaccurate : all the relations do not have the same probability to exist and networks are also structured and hierarchical. In networks analysis, this classic observation sends back to the principle of homophily ; principle according to which people or organizations tend to form connections with others who are similar to them in social or organizational characteristics. From an exploratory research based on interviews with entrepreneurs and managers of firms working in the industry of clean technologies, we will see how the principle of homophily turns out to be necessary in the understanding of, on one hand, the existence of the relations observed in the innovation’s activities of SMEs, and on the other, their capacity to give access to the resources which the SMEs need in their innovation’s projects.Investigación sobre la innovación en las PyME (Pequenas y medianas empresas) está interesada en el lugar y el papel de las redes. En estas obras, todo sucede como si las relaciones fueran igualmente probables y posibles. The increase competitions as well as technological advancements have created motivation among business owners to look for more innovative ideas from outside their organizations. Many enterprises collaborate with other organizations to empower themselves through innovative ideas. These kinds of collaborations can be observed as a concept called Regional Innovation System. These collaborations include inter-firm collaborations, research organizations, intermediary institutions and governmental agencies. The primary objective of this paper is to evaluate relationships between Collaborative Networks and Innovation in information technology business units located in province of Tehran, Iran. The research method utilized for the present study is descriptive-correlation. To evaluate the relationships between independent and dependent variables, canonical correlation analysis (CCA) is used. The results confirm the previous findings regarding the relationship between Collaborative Networks and Innovation. Among various dimensions of Collaboration, Collaboration with governmental agencies had a very small impact on the relationship between collaboration networks and innovation. In addition, the results show that in addition to affecting product innovation and process innovation, collaboration networks also affected management innovation.

Supply chain collaboration and eco‐innovations: An institutional perspective from China

This study explores the impact of supply chain collaboration on eco‐innovations in the context of 220 Chinese manufacturing supplier firms involved in global supply chain networks. It investigates how supplier and customer collaborations help firms to enhance product eco‐innovations, and/or process eco‐innovations, and how the institutional context (i.e., regulatory, market, and community pressures) influences these relationships. The structural equation modeling approach is used to analyze the data captured from medium and large manufacturing enterprises in three major sectors: automotive, electronics, and textiles. The results show that community pressure has a positive effect on supplier collaboration, which further leads to enhanced process eco‐innovation. On the other hand, the findings indicate that while market pressure enhances customer collaboration, this does not reinforce product eco‐innovation. Contrary to our expectation, regulatory pressures do not impact supplier or customer collaboration for innovation. Overall, different institutional factors indicate divergent effects on supply chain collaboration and product/process eco‐innovation. The importance of normative pressures, such as those applied through the local community and interest groups, for eco‐innovations in production processes is further discussed as a typical feature of the institutional environment of Chinese supplier firms.
