Regioselective Ru(II)/Pd(0) Dual Catalysis: One-Pot C–H Diarylation of Five-Membered Heterocyclic Derivatives

Abstract: Herein, we report a one-pot site-selective dual metal catalyzed C–H diarylation reaction for the synthesis of multiarylated thiophene and furan derivatives in yields up to 92%. The regioselectivity of the developed methodology was achieved with the sequential use of two metal catalysts within a single vessel, starting with a Ru(II)-catalyzed C3 arylation assisted by an azine directing group, followed by a Pd(0)-catalyzed C–H functionalization on the C5-position of the five-membered heterocycle. Furthermore, th… Show more

“…Some selected examples are as illustrated in Scheme 9. 75 Fu, Chen, and co-workers disclosed the first example of the stereodivergent synthesis of alkenylpyridines 42 using a Pd/Cu dual catalytic system through the activation of pyridinium salts 41 to alkenylate selectively at C2 of pyridines with internal alkynes 1. Significantly, the configuration of the resulting alkenylpyridines could be tuned by choosing the appropriate N-alkyl groups of the pyridinium salts, enabling the synthesis of both Z-and E-alkenylpyridines 42 with high regio-and stereoselectivities (Scheme 10).…”

“…As humans explore the physical world, scientists are using more and more detection techniques. Initially, people observed macroscopic natural phenomena with the naked eye and summarized the laws of nature [1][2]. Humans then use magnifying glasses and microscopes to observe some microscopic objects.…”
