Registration of Melting and Crystallization Process of Ultra-light Weight MgLi12,5 Alloy with Use of ATND Method

Abstract: To the main advantages of magnesium alloys belongs their low density, and just because of such property the alloys are used in aviation and rocket structures, and in all other applications, where mass of products have significant importance for conditions of their operation. To additional advantages of the magnesium alloys belongs good corrosion resistance, par with or even surpassing aluminum alloys. Magnesium is the lightest of all the engineering metals, having a density of 1.74 g/cm 3 . It is 35% lighter t… Show more

“…Magnesium is the lightest metal that can be applied in structural applications when combined with other elements [1,2]. Magnesium alloys have newly been adopted to make portable electric devices because these alloys are light, exhibit high electrical and thermal conductivities, and can be recycled [3].…”

“…The alloys studied have been chosen by past work on the thermal analysis of Mg metal alloys, where it has been established that a thermal-derivative analysis can be a powerful and useful tool to sufficiently describe a solidification pathway of magnesium alloys [1,[17][18][19][20].…”

“…At the current stage of the research, such method is used under laboratory conditions to record the crystallization processes in aluminum casting alloys, to identify phase transformations [24,[27][28], and to predict the mechanical properties 25,26,29 .…”

“…The curve illustrates the derivative dT/dt, what enhances less visible changes present on the cooling curve T = f(t) 19 (method of the thermal-derivative analysis -ATD method). Except such methods, other methods based on thermal effects (DTA, ATDG method) [20][21][22] , thermo-electric effects (ATD-AED method) 23 , and thermo-voltage effects (ATND method) are also used [24][25][26][27][28][29] . The ATND (thermal-voltage-derivative analysis) method is the author's own method of analysis of the crystallization process.…”

“…Obtain as much information on interest in such a short time (2-5 minutes) allows for an immediate decision to improve the quality or the motivates greater technical discipline process. This is so the best and easiest way to improve the quality of foundry and metallurgical deciding the degree of reliability of machines and equipment [10][11][12][13].…”
