Abstract:The strength of inhibitory neurotransmission depends on intracellular neuronal chloride concentration, primarily regulated by the activity of cation-chloride cotransporters NKCC1 and KCC2. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) influences the functioning of these co-transporters.
